HEMA opens at Stansted Airport smallDaily essentials retailer Dutch retailer HEMA opened its fifth outlet in the UK at Stansted Airport yesterday, offering last-minute products and more for passengers as they travel and beyond.

The company says this is its first presence as an airport airside retailer where it is now offering its ‘wide’ range of baby, homeware, beauty and travel accessories which have all been designed in house.

The Stansted outlet is the latest addition to HEMA’s portfolio of nearly 700 stores across seven countries, which it says serve more than 6m visitors every week. With over 22m passengers travelling through Stansted each year, the retailer says that the location is ‘ideal’ as it marks the next stage in HEMA’s expansion plan.

Commenting, Tjeerd Jegen, CEO of HEMA said: “Stansted’s departure lounge is undergoing a multi-million pound transformation and HEMA is excited to be one of the leading brands set to make this airport a real shopping destination.

“Our store has been curated with the traveller in mind, offering tailored collections aimed at this particular market. Our philosophy is to make life easier and more fun, and where better to do this than a busy international travel hub.”

The company adds that HEMA has been operational since 1926 and it says it believes in great quality and design at a great price.
