Goa new integrated TerminalFollowing the collapse of a large number of tenders at 12 airports launched in May earlier this year, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has now launched a new ‘tentative’ tender for 14 of its airports.

On 24 September, AAI launched a global RFP for the development and operation of duty free outlets at 14 airports in India for a period of seven years starting with Chennai, Lucknow, Goa, Trivandrum and Madurai Airports.

A ‘pre-bid meeting’ is due to take place on the 9 October for the aforementioned airports and the last date for bidders to submit their proposal is 12 October. AAI says it aims to respond to bidders’ ‘queries’ by 16 October.

AAI has released the details for some of these airport tenders on its website.

The concession term for Goa Airport covers three duty free outlets at 120sq m, 80sq m and 40sq m. The 80sq m outlet resides within International SHA and the 40sq m outlet sits in the International Hall.

The concession term for Goa Airport is seven years and covers three duty free outlets.

The Madurai Airport concession covers a total of 90sq m of duty free shop space – 50sq m in arrivals and 40sq m in departures.

AAI appears to have launched an EOI process for ‘general retail’ at Udaipur Airport divided into the following categories: Gifts, souvenirs and toys, TR Shop, book and department store, non-prescription/prescription drugs, personal care; cosmetics/fragrances, men’s, women’s and kid’s apparel, fashion, eyewear, watches and jewellery, electronics, writing instruments, footwear and liquor.

It looks like AAI has also relaunched the tender for a Master Concessionaire at Kolkata Airport, to design, build, finance and operate ‘general retail outlets’ within Terminal 2, for a period of three years.

As mentioned, AAI advertised several duty free opportunities at a large number of airports in what it described as ‘a golden opportunity’ for retailers, back in May this year.

At the time, AAI said it was looking for retailers to tender for its following airport locations, which include: Coimbatore; Calicut; Mangalore; Trichy; Trivandrum; Kolkata; Ahmedabad; Goa; Pune; Jaipur; Lucknow; and Amritsa
