Ghost Corner wines from South Africa to debut at Cannes

By Caroline Sargent |

South African wine distributor Diverse Flavours is to introduce Ghost Corner wines to the travel retail sector at Cannes for the first time.

Located in Elim, a wild coastal area known for the number of ships that have been lost to the stormy waters, Ghost Corner is South Africa’s most southerly winery producing quality Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.

Vineyard owner David Nieuwoudt has developed a range of five wines which Diverse Flavours director Anthony Budd will be offering visitors the chance to taste, from his stand in the Red Village:

Ghost Corner Semillion: an aromatic Semillon displaying aromas of green fig, white fruit and nettles, with a surprise note of ginseng, characteristic of the cool climate of the southern peninsula.

Ghost Corner Sauvignon Blanc and Ghost Corner Wild Ferment Sauvignon Blanc: an ‘incomparable’ Sauvignon Blanc and its naturally fermented stablemate.

Ghost Corner Pinot Noir: a beautifully crafted Pinot Noir with prominent red fruit of ripe cherries and sweet raspberries with an undertone of earthy, mushroom nuances.

Ghost Corner The Bowline: sailors call the bowline the ‘king of knots’ – a strong simple knot that symbolizes union, completion and eternal devotion. This white blend ‘ties the knot’ between Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc.
