Travel Retail Consortium makes palliative care donation

At the Travel Retail Consortium’s October meeting the TRC’s Chairman Richard Thorpe presented a cheque for £2302.00 to Sarah Fisher from the Beacon Centre in Guildford, a specialist Palliative Care unit.

The money was donated by TRC members and their guests at two fund-raising events hosted this year; a weekend at The Wood Norton hotel in Worcestershire in April and the lunch at the London Zoo in September.

Guests got close up and personal with wildlife when the TRC held its annual lunch in September at ZSL London Zoo, Regents Park (below).

The unique venue hosted TRC members, along with guests from airport retailers, airlines, ferries/cruise-ships, distributors/agents and media.

Guests were treated to a Taittinger Champagne reception and delicious three course meal in the Mappin Pavilion.

“I would like to thank both my fellow TRC members together with our guests who have given generously to our 2014 nominated charity,” said Richard Thorpe, TRC Chairman.

“Having had personal experience of the Beacon Centre’s work, I know that the money will be put to very good use.”
