Copenhagen hits first-time 25m pax
By Doug Newhouse |
According to Copenhagen Airport’s research department, the 25 millionth passenger arrived at Copenhagen Airport on Thursday, 18 December at around 10.00am.
This is the first time in 90 years that the airport has handled so many passengers in a single 12-month period since it opened on the island of Amager in 1925 as one of the first civilian airports in the world.
Marie-Louise Lotz, Copenhagen Airport’s Head of Passenger Service said this is a big milestone for the airport: “Every year, thousands of new passengers arrive at the airport, and we always do our utmost to give them a good experience when they start, continue or finish their journey.
“We consider a visit to Copenhagen Airport to be part of the journey, a place where travellers have the opportunity to take a break, enjoy a good meal at one of our many restaurants or cafés, or can spend time shopping in a nice and exciting atmosphere.”
Passenger number 25m this year was also passenger number 695,331,149 in the airports almost 90 years of history. This means that the airport will round passenger number 700 million in the spring of 2015, a number corresponding to the population of the US, Indonesia, Mexico and Denmark – all lumped together.
