Cairo Airport primes retail & F&B tender at T3

Cairo Airport Company (CAC) is seeking expressions of interest (EOI) from qualified companies to operate a commercial master concession at Cairo International Airport Terminal 3.

The EOI, released today (26 February), concerns around 2,000sq m of retail and F&B space situated post-customs within the departure hall of the terminal, according to a joint notice from Cairo Airport Company, Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation (EHAAN), and the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

The closing date for submissions is Sunday 24 March, with CAC set to launch a competitive tender process thereafter.

Qualified companies will be shortlisted on the basis they meet a series of evaluation criteria and qualification requirements*, whereupon they are able to obtain RFP documents and submit financial and technical proposals.

‘Enhancing the shopping experience’

Under the EOI, CAC will assess areas such as (but not limited to) the proposal’s vision and concept, initial operation/work plan, expected preparation period and preparedness.

The chosen vendor will possess the ability to provide no fewer than four retail brands/trademarks (including at least two international brands/trademarks) and a minimum of eight F&B brands/trademarks (including at least five international brands/trademarks).

“Cairo Airport is of international importance, being the main gateway of the capital of Egypt and a destination for all aviation movements, which has an important impact on engaging with various interested governmental, airlines & businesses parties to enhance the performance and the travelling shopper experience,” a CAC spokesperson told TRBusiness.

EHAAN is the state-run enterprise which runs 20 airports in Egypt on behalf of the Ministry of Civil Aviation through various subsidiaries, including CAC.

Prospective vendors are advised that procedures are subjected to the regulations of the purchase and sale policy of Cairo Airport Company and EOI submissions and documents should be sent to the below address.

*Proof of the company’s legal registration (company’s gazette, commercial register etc); no less than five years’ operating and managing commercial activities; evidence of projects executed for past three years and copies of audited financial statements; information on company profile, structure, capabilities, experience, staff etc.
