Sountou Bousso possesses a Technician Diploma from Ecole Supérieure Polytechnique (Senegal) and Engineering degree from ESIAB School of Engineering (France). He also holds two Master’s Degrees in Marketing Management and International Trade (Brest Business School) and in International Management (HEC Paris).

Lagardère Travel Retail has appointed Sountou Bousso as Chief Executive Officer of the company’s Senegal and Gabon operations in Africa.

Senegalese citizen Bousso takes over the position with immediate effect from Bruno Bouchacourt, who is retiring after two decades at Lagardère Travel Retail.

Bousso joins from global catering group Newrest, where he was most recently General Manager for Cameroon and Senegal.

Prior to this, he was General Manager of Newrest in Angola and in New Caledonia.

In a statement, Lagardère Travel Retail says the appointment ties in with its ambition to promote local leadership and empowerment to strengthen the business’s position as a leading international travel retail operator in Africa.

Senegal & Gabon CEO Bruno Bouchacourt (pictured right) is retiring, having spent 20 years with Lagardère Travel Retail.

EMPOWERING LOCAL LEADERSHIP

As a veteran of Lagardère Travel Retail, Bouchacourt held numerous roles in France and elsewhere, including as manager of duty free operations in Eurodis (Eurotunnel) and at Aeroporti di Roma.

After the acquisition of Airest in 2015, Bouchacourt took on responsibility for duty free and fashion activities in Italy.

Frédéric Chevalier, Chief Operating Officer, EMEA at Lagardère Travel Retail points to Bousso’s international experience, in-depth local knowledge and track record of running local operations within complex global organisations.

He adds this expertise will further consolidate the company’s position as a leading international operator in West Africa.

“I also want to take this opportunity to thank Bruno for his tremendous contribution to growing the company and in particular for successfully launching our operations in Western Africa,” added Chevalier.

“I know he will be very missed by all the colleagues and business partners he has worked with over so many years. I envy Bruno’s future guests who will very soon enjoy his cooking talents in the guest house he will be opening in the South of France.”

Lagardère Travel Retail started to operate in Senegal in 2017 at Blaise Diagne International Airport and in Gabon at Libreville Léon-Mba International Airport  in 2019.
