By Doug Newhouse |

Phuket Airport todayThe King Power international Group is looking forward to opening its brand new downtown store in Phuket this December and its shops at the new terminal in Phuket International Airport when it opens in July of next year.

Referring to the new downtown complex, Susan Whelan, Senior Executive Vice President at KPIG said: “It will be a luxury downtown mall, designed along the principles of our Srivaree downtown [in Bangkok-Ed], with a strong focus on perfume and cosmetics, luxury fashion boutiques, and a very wide range of watches and jewellery boutiques.

“We will also introduce a new concept for Thai designed products – not just handicrafts – which we will continue to develop for all of our outlets.”

The existing Phuket airport gates

The existing Phuket Airport airline gates will be expanded when the new terminal opens next year.

She added that this will be followed by the new terminal shops at the new terminal at Phuket International airport in July, where KPIG will exclusively operate all of the duty free areas, with a significant expansion in overall space.

“After that we will renovate the original flagship downtown shop in Rangnam, which will be completed by the first of December 2016,” said Whelan.

An interview with Susan Whelan appears on page 30 of the October Cannes exhibition issue of TRBusiness and also on pages 81-85 in the bonus retail section of the World’s Top 10 International Retailers 2015.
