Lotte DF marks anniversary with volunteer activities

Lotte Duty Free joins members of the Charlete Volunteer Group and Welfare Center in Seoul to donate food and funds to local communities.

Philanthropy underpins Lotte Duty Free’s latest mission as the travel retailer commemorates its 38th anniversary with charitable donations and a number of community initiatives.

Activities in Seoul and Busan (12 Feb), and Jeju (13 Feb) are designed to mark Lotte Duty Free’s anniversary in mid-week (14 Feb).

Lotte Duty Free will donate approximately KRW25m ($23,000) and rice to support the elderly and homeless in communities, with the donations used for sustenance, heating and support facilities.

On 12 February, more than 100 employees of the Charlete Volunteer Group joined with Lotte Duty Free, including CEO Jang Sun-wook, to undertake community work.

Employees from Lotte Duty Free’s Myeongdong head office, World Tower and COEX stores visited the Seoul Senior Welfare Center in Jongno-gu to deliver donations and provide catering services.

In the afternoon, employees of the Busan branch paid a trip to the Welfare Center in Busanjin-gu to provide 500 meals.

On the 13 February, Jeju employees will team up with Jeju City’s Eunseong Social Welfare Center to prepare and deliver food and donations to local communities.

In September, Lotte Duty Free’s acclaimed Family Festival will sponsor children’s welfare organisations through audience participation events.

In October, the firm will cover the costs of surgery and treatment for six children suffering with heart disease in Vietnam.
