TappooCity Lautoka complex set to woo Fiji cruise tourists
By Doug Newhouse |
The Tappoo Group’s new 86,000sq ft TappooCity Lautoka shopping mall in Fiji has taken another major step towards its full opening as a major retail, food and entertainment complex – aimed at locals and tourists alike.
The new complex is designed to appeal to both the local catchment area comprising 50,000 locals, as well as the fast growing number of cruise passengers and tourists who can also benefit from duty free status at the new outlet.
Tappoo hopes that local customers will comprise around 70% of its walk-in customers, with tourists expected to make up the balance.
This now brings the number of international standard shopping malls in the country to two, including the TappooCity outlet which already exists in Suva.
AIMED AT LOCALS AND TOURISTS ALIKE
Commenting on the new outlet, Tappoo management said: “The Lautoka complex is a grand symbol of the Tappoo Group’s commitment to the Fijian people. The Tappoo Group commenced trading in Fiji 75 years ago on 23rd August 1941.
“TappooCity Lautoka stands near completion, ready to rejuvenate Fiji’s second largest city and inject into the city’s commerce the vitality that reflects its people.
“While the concept is largely a replica of TappooCity Suva, the signature-grey complex has a good sum of unique offerings that sets it apart.
“Among these offerings is a dual cinema, a premium supermarket and 5 corporate sports booths overlooking the Churchill Park sports stadium from which the world famous Fijian Rugby 7’s stars can be seen performing. The food and entertainment choices are many with a significant area dedicated to these with stunning views of Lautoka City.”
The new complex also features a variety of international cuisine, plus an extensive retail offer where clothing, shoes and accessories account for more than one third of the retail space.
FULL BRANDED MERCHANDISE RANGE
Tappoo also offers a full range of branded merchandise in multiple categories, including perfumes and cosmetics, watches and jewellery, sports goods, women’s fashion, menswear and contemporary Indian fashion.
The company adds: “Destination Fiji handicrafts and souvenirs with an exciting Made in Fiji range is sure to be an attraction for cruise ship passengers off the Lautoka wharf, as well as tourist day trippers from the neighbouring Nadi town and Denarau resorts.
The complex also features speciality stores including a Pharmacy, a mobile phone shop, a liquor shop, a book store and a hair & beauty salon.
This new opening is a major event for the Tappoo Group, with TRBusiness first covering its plans to build this complex back in December 2013. Click here for details: https://www.trbusiness.com/regional-news/asia-pacific/tappoocity-set-to-open-in-lautoka/57365
