Polish travel retailer Baltona Duty Free has opened a new 420sq m space at Montpellier International Airport.
The company, which opened its flagship duty free store at Warsaw Chopin Airport in January, has secured a 10-year contract at the French airport. A grand opening of the extended terminal in Montpellier took place on 7 May.
Baltona has been present at the airport since 2012 and previously occupied an area of 240sq m. The offer comprises a range of perfumes, cosmetics, sweets, alcohol, travel accessories and clothes.
EXPANDED REGIONAL OFFER
The retailer has also significantly expanded its regional product assortment, which comprises cheeses, jams, sweets, foie gras souvenirs and wines from Languedoc.

She added: “Thanks to the airport environment, we have developed the shop and contributed to building aa unique customer experience.
“I am especially happy that we have managed to create a much more convenient shopping space. Thanks to our team and good relationships with local producers, passengers can find a wide range of high-quality and delicious regional products.“
Last year, the airport handled almost 2m passengers, with the extension set to increase capacity.
Baltona operates duty free shops at regional Polish airports and general stores and catering establishments in Poland and abroad. Since 2018, it has opened commercial spaces at airports in Tallinn, Wroclaw and Warsaw. It is also present in Romania, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Italy and Ukraine.
