By Doug Newhouse |

Top Jersey AirportThe Dufry Group reported today that it has won a new 10-year duty free contract for its World Duty Free retail brand with Ports of Jersey – Channel Islands, following ‘a comprehensive tender process’.

The new agreement is timely, as it comes into force on 1 March of this year as part of a new agreement, which will result in an increase in the overall size of World Duty Free’s existing retail floor space of 260sq m to total 750sq m.

Dufry says that this extension will be used to introduce ‘new products, more local products and a redevelopment of the retail layout’ in an expansion exercise, which will commence when the important summer trading period is over later this year.

WORLD-CLASS SHOPPING EXPERIENCE…

The retailer adds that ‘just under 1.6m passengers’ passed through the airport in 2016 and it says that the new enhanced retail offer will deliver ‘a world-class airport shopping experience to travellers.’

Julián Díaz, CEO of Dufry said: “We are extremely pleased to have reached this agreement with Ports of Jersey and would like to thank the management team for renewing their trust in World Duty Free and Dufry.
