Heinemann home delivery integrated online with FRA

FRA-Heinemann-online-leadFollowing last year’s the formation of a ground-breaking 50-50 joint venture agreement between Hamburg-based DF&TR operator Gebr. Heinemann and Frankfurt Airport operator, Fraport, Heinemann’s Home Delivery service has now been successfully integrated into Frankfurt Airport’s shopping platform.

Frankfurt Airport Retail (FAR), a joint venture between Gebr. Heinemann and Fraport is reportedly ‘the first and most important supplier on Frankfurt Airport’s online shopping platform’.

On the website travellers can order goods from the Heinemann Duty Free & Travel Value range and have them delivered to an address in Germany. In the introductory phase, the delivery is free of shipping costs.

Customers can order as often as they like, 90 days before departure as long as they are in possession of an airline ticket from Frankfurt to a destination within the EU.

SALES INCREASE EXPECTED

The two Managing Directors of FAR, Johannes Sammann and Georg Fuhrmann, explain: “With the joint online shopping platform, we once again reaffirm our successful partnership with Fraport.

“The integration of our special pre order and home delivery services strengthens our competitiveness in the travel retail market. It also enriches the shopping experience of travellers via Frankfurt and increases sales.”

FAR is the first partner which the airport operator Fraport has integrated into its online marketplace. Online cooperation with an airport is also a first for Gebr. Heinemann.

DEMAND FOR DIGITAL & ONLINE OPTIONS

Gebr. Heinemann and Fraport launched the joint project for an online marketplace in 2015 in response to advancing digitalisation and increasing demand for corresponding services in the travel market.

Fraport operates the online marketplace and acts as an intermediary between passengers and participating airport retailers.

Markus Knauer, Head of Digital Commerce at Gebr. Heinemann explains: “This launch is an important milestone for our digital strategy. From now on, the delivery service from Heinemann can be offered in third-party webshops, automatically processed by our IT systems and executed by our logistics department.

“As a result, we are expanding our range of services for our business partners by adding a further facet with a view to the end customer. In addition, we are expanding our position as an important and innovative partner.”
