Lagardère Travel Retail is to open a new Discover store at Aberdeen International Airport this summer.
A new partnership between the French travel retailer and Scottish airport, this is the first time Lagardère Travel Retail has opened at the major north east transport hub.
The new Discover Aberdeen store will ‘have a passion for all things Scottish’ from local produce to Harris Tweed, whisky and souvenirs, according to the airport.
Aberdeen International Airport and Lagardère Travel Retail will have full range exclusivity for a number of brands at the new store including Stewarts of Scotland, Deans of Huntly shortbread, Steven Brown Art and Glen Appin.
More than 10 jobs will be created at Discover Aberdeen, which opens in late June including a mixture of full-time and part-time roles.
‘NEW AND VIBRANT CONCEPT’
Marion Engelhard, Managing Director of Lagardère Travel Retail UK & Ireland said: “We are thrilled to open our Discover Aberdeen store in Aberdeen International Airport and to welcome passengers with a new and vibrant concept.
“Discover Aberdeen is about bringing the best of local and Scottish products to Aberdeen Airport and will enjoy the exclusive presence of numerous brands.
“This sets yet another milestone to our successful partnership with AGS Airports over the years.”
Jemma Cumming, Commercial Manager at Aberdeen International Airport said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Lagardère Travel Retail Retail to our airport. Work has been ongoing since 2019 to bring this concept into our extended airside retail footprint.
“Discover Aberdeen will be a great addition to our terminal and enhances the hard work we have done to get retail outlets reopened at the airport.
“This will create 11 local jobs which is great in the current situation and we are looking forward to celebrating all things Scottish at the new store.”
