Tunisian Airport Authority issues RFP for duty free

The Tunisian Office of Civil Aviation and Airports Authority (OACA) has announced on its website that it is seeking interested parties to bid for the operation of duty free retail concessions at five international airports: Tunis Carthage, Djerba Zarzis, Sfax Thyna, Tozeur, Nafta and Tabarka-Ain Drahem.

 

It states that the original deadline for receipt of tenders was scheduled for 7 March, 2014 at 17:00, but has now been extended to 21 March, 2014 at 17:00.

 

Dufry, which is the incumbent, highlighted its Tunisia operations in its HY1 2013 report: “Africa continued with its growth [in HY1 2013], to which Morocco and Tunisia were the main contributors.” On its corporate website Dufry states that it operates 19 stores in total at Tunisian airports.

 

The heaviest number are situated at Tunis Carthage International Airport, where Dufry says it operates six duty free stores. It says it has an additional four stores at Monastir Habib Bourguiba International Airport; three duty free stores at DJerba-Zarzis International Airport; two duty free stores at Sfax-Thyna and Tozuer Nefta International Airports and two duty free stores at Tabarka International Airport.

 

The Tunisian Civil Aviation and Airports Authority (Office de l’aviation civile et des aéroports, OACA) is the civil aviation authority of Tunisia and a sub-agency of the Ministry of Transport. Its head office is on the property of Tunis-Carthage International Airport in Tunis.

 

Created in 1971 OACA , originally named the Office of Air Ports of Tunisia (OPAT) is an autonomous public institution responsible to manage, develop and operate seven international airports in Tunisia.

 

In addition, OACA is involved in the operation, management and development of airports as well as the performance of all operations and services required for passengers, public, aircraft , air cargo and mail at airports.
