Melvin Broekaart, CEO of Aircommerce says that the new AirportGiftCard.com platform will allow travel retail merchants to use both digital and physical gift cards to engage consumers at multiple levels, including marketing, promotions, sales and customer service.

The company also claims the new service will increase revenue and reduce costs, while helping to optimize the customer experience.

SOLD ON THE LANDSIDE AND SPENT AIRSIDE…

The company says AirportGiftCard.com will be sold and distributed landside, while redemption will be wholly restricted to use with airside retailers. The company adds that it also expects that the platform will be used for compensation purposes by airlines, as well as for pre-paid incentives for food and non-food redemption.

“Aircommerce provides airport merchants with integrated end-to-end solutions for B2B and B2C gift card distribution,” said Broekaart. “The combination of our technical capability and global reach creates innovative new applications for branded value and mobile payments. We couldn’t be more excited.

“We invite airport operators to come and see us at the TFWA Digital Village, where we will be happy to tell them more about our gift card programme. They are the ideal partners for this new revenue model, which will increase radically airport retail and F&B penetration rates.”

The Airport Gift Cards will be ready for delivery to retail partners from the second quarter of 2018.
