UK duty free and travel retail distributor, Scorpio Worldwide, has gained the first listing for its new inflight-exclusive watches line, Yamaha Factory Racing VR/46 Collection by TW Steel.

Hong Kong Airlines has confirmed the TWWVR110 Blue chronograph model from 1 October, and Scorpio claims several more are “now confirmed or in final negotiation”.

Scorpio, an independently-managed company within the Gebr Heinemann Group, unveiled the watches at the TFWA Asia Pacific show last month. They range in price for the chronographs in ultra-light carbon cases at $179, to $129 for three-hand watches. Both price ranges offer a Japanese quartz movement, graphite dial, silicon strap, and water resistance to 3ATM.

‘OVERWHELMED’

Scorpio Worldwide Sales & Marketing Director Richard Kennedy, comments: “We were quite overwhelmed at just how excited buyers were to see this new offer. We’re confident that the collection will soon join Aviator as one of our top-selling brands inflight.”

During the show, Scorpio also offered stand visitors an opportunity to win two VIP tickets to their nearest MotoGP including pit lane passes, VIP seating and full hospitality. The winner was May Kwong Group Head of Duty Free Inflight Ancillary at AirAsia who will be invited to the Malaysian Grand prix later this year.
