Dubai Duty Free has resumed operations for departing passengers in Dubai International Airport Terminal 2, according to a post on the retailer’s Facebook page (see below).
As first reported by TRBusiness, trading recommenced on 3 June in the Concourse B West retail area, following an inspection the previous day by the Dubai Civil Aviation authority.
Earlier this week, Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO, Dubai Duty Free said the resumption of Terminal 2 operations would represent ‘more good news’ for passengers flying on non-Emirates flights.
Speaking during the second TRBusiness’ TRConnect webinar on 2 June, Dubai Duty Free Chief Operating Officer Ramesh Cidambi suggested shops would also re-open soon in Terminal 2 arrivals and Terminal 3 (Arrivals 4 and Landside), under phase of two of the retailer’s shop reopening plan.
Concourse B East — home to lucrative gold, cosmetics, L&T and perfumes units, plus boutiques such as Chanel and Gucci — Concourse C, Concourse D and T3 Arrivals Unit 3 are expected to re-open under phase three. Plans to re-open Concourse A and Al Maktoum International Airport are undecided.
