Finest Surprise for DDF’s Irish hero
By Doug Newhouse |
Nearly 130 Dubai Duty Free staff welcomed Colm and Breeda McLoughlin back to Dubai Airport last night after he received one of Ireland’s top honours.
As reported, Executive Vice Chairman Colm McLoughlin received the Irish Presidential Distinguished Service Award in the Business and Education category and the extent of last night’s impressive airport reception committee is just a measure of how highly he is liked and respected by his many colleagues.
The presentation was made by the President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins on 30th October at the presidential residence, Áras an Uachtaráin, in Dublin. Colm McLoughlin and his wife are pictured in the centre of the picture behind the words Duty Free.

The award to Dubai Duty Free’s founding executive was only one of 10 Irish Presidential Distinguished Service Awards made this year and the very first to be made to an Irish citizen living in the United Arab Emirates. The award itself is recognition by the Irish Government for McLoughlin’s contribution to Irish business and communities abroad.
