Vienna Airport’s Björn Olsson to take up Managing Director role at SSP Sweden

Björn Olsson’s tenure as SSP Sweden Managing Director begins on 1 January.

Vienna International Airport Senior Vice President Center Management Björn Olsson has been appointed as Managing Director for food travel expert SSP’s Sweden division.

The experienced and much-respected airport commercial executive will take up his new post in January 2021.

In an announcement on LinkedIn, SSP Sweden said: “Björn has extensive experience in strategy and business development for retail and F&B not only from his latest role as Senior Vice President at Vienna International Airport but also from working for Arlanda Schiphol Development Company and as Head of Retail at Swedavia AB.

“We look forward in working with Björn and welcome him to the SSP team.”

‘FOUR EXCITING AND BEAUTY YEARS AT VIENNA’

Olsson joined Vienna Airport in 2016 as a member of the Managing Board heading the non-aviation business unit Center Management, with responsibility for retail, F&B and commercial services.

Prior to this, he was Head of Retail at Swedavia responsible for enhancing commercial revenues at 10 airports including Stockholm Arlanda, Gothenburg Landvetter, Stockholm-Bromma and Malmö Sturup.

He has also spent time as Commercial Manager Retail at Arlanda Schiphol Development Company and as a Retail Estate Manager for the terminal complex at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.

In sharing the announcement online, Olsson said he was ‘really excited and very happy’ to be joining SSP.

Olsson could not be reached, with an automated email response reading: “After four exciting and beautiful years at Vienna Airport, I will go back to Sweden for private reasons. Thank you all for working in partnership and constructive exchange.”
