Maxxium makes £10k WiTR donation

By Caroline Sargent |

With Sierra Leone at the epicentre of the Ebola crisis, Women in Travel Retail is supporting the charity All As One and asking the TR industry to help them reach a target of €25,000. The funds are needed to purchase a lorry to build much needed facilities for affected children in Sierra Leone.

Maxxium Travel Retail made a ‘magnificent’ donation of £10k, while offers of products for the silent auction and prize draw – set to take place the evening of Tuesday 28 October at WiTR’s annual meeting at Cannes – have been flooding in from across the globe.

Pledges of note include designer handbags courtesy of DFS; an Irish Rugby team shirt kindly donated by Jack McGowan, CEO, Aer Rianta International; a complimentary DPS in the Moodie Report, and generous cash donation from The Travel Retail Business.

Co-organizer Gerry Munday of Furla says, “We cannot thank all of you enough for your support and generosity; we need a minimum of €25,000 and only you can make it happen by selling and buying tickets to raise funds for this very worthwhile charity.”

On hearing of the support received to date from the travel retail industry, All As One sent their heartfelt thanks adding, “Along with this health (Ebola) crisis, comes huge inflation and rising prices for basic supplies, impacting our budget and our ability to provide food and other basic needs for the children. The number of Ebola orphans is also rising and we expect that our services will be needed long into the future.”

For more information and to donate prizes, please contact any of the following, or deliver to the Furla stand (Bay Village Bay 15) by 15.00 on Tuesday 28 October.
