Puig buys Penhaligon’s and L’Artisan Parfumeur
By Kevin Rozario |
Spanish family-owned beauty-to-fashion group, Puig, today acquired high-end fragrance houses Penhaligon’s and L’Artisan Parfumeur from Fox Paine & Company for an undisclosed amount.
Established in 1870, Penhaligon’s London – with its own retail network and a global presence – is one of the most prestigious British fragrance houses, holding two Royal Warrants. Its most iconic fragrance is Blenheim Bouquet, created in 1902 for the Duke of Marlborough.
L’Artisan Parfumeur Paris was founded in 1976 and works with its own craftsmen to create authentic and individual perfumes. The house also has retail boutiques in France and a global presence.
Puig says it is committed to expanding its presence in the prestige perfumery category and these acquisitions confirm that intention. The new additions will continues to be led by Lance Patterson, who was appointed as CEO of Cradle Holdings, an affiliate of Fox Paine & Company, in July last year.
Puig’s revenue reached €1.49bn ($1.72bn) in 2013 from owned brands such as Carolina Herrera, Nina Ricci, Paco Rabanne and Jean Paul Gaultier, and from licences such as Prada, Valentino and Comme des Garçons.
