Covid-19: AOT grants extension of payment terms for concession charges

By Luke Barras-hill |

Airports of Thailand (AOT) has lengthened payment terms for concession charges, office and state property rents and service charges for concessionaires and airlines at the six airports under its supervision.

As reported, AOT continues to assist its airport partners throughout the pandemic having committed in December to a 15-20% reduction in fixed concession charges across Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai and Mae Fah Luang-Chiang Rai International Airports until 31 March 2022.

An AOT Board of Directors meeting held yesterday (20 January) resolved to approve the extended credit payment terms, which cover six- to eighteen-month periods, variously.

REACTING TO NEW VIRUS WAVES

The payment terms in question cover monthly instalments between February to July 2020; April to July 2020 and August to December 2020.

Concessionaires and airlines wishing to benefit from the relief are required to submit a letter of request to AOT.

“At present, the concessionaires and airlines are still being affected by the situation of Covid-19 outbreak in many countries and the new wave of the Covid-19 outbreak in Thailand,” said AOT.

“To ensure continued operations of the concessionaire and airlines as in line with the government policy, the AOT Board of Directors […] therefore, resolved to approve an extension of payment term for concession charges, office and state property rents, and service charges for the concessionaires and airlines affected by the Covid-19 outbreak at all six airports under AOT’s supervision.”
