Lima and Pulkovo Airports report strong traffic growth for Fraport AG

For the first nine months of 2014, Frankfurt Airport received more than 45.6m passengers, a gain of 3.2% year-on-year.

 

The airports in Fraport AG’s international portfolio also reported strong results for the first three quarters 2014. Peru’s Lima Airport (LIM) welcomed 11.6m passengers (up 4.9%).

 

As reported, studies by two independent institutes forecast that passenger volumes at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) will rise to between 68m and 73m passengers by the year 2021. If the forecasts are correct the airport’s current terminal capacity of 64m passengers per year will be exceeded by 2021.

 

In September 2014, LIM’s passenger traffic rose by 7.2% to about 1.3m. Combined, the Bulgarian Twinstar airports of Varna (VAR) and Burgas (BOJ) saw traffic rise by 2.8% to a total of 3.8m passengers in the first nine months of the year (September 2014: more than 515,000 passengers, down 4.8%).

 

However, 23.4m air travellers, Turkey’s Antalya Airport (AYT) reported 5.9% growth (September: 3.7m passengers, down 2.6%).

 

Traffic at St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo Airport (LED) in Russia advanced by 12.2% year-on-year to more than 11.3m passengers (September: 1.4m passengers, up 9.9%).

 

Xi’an Airport (XIY) in China grew by 10.4% to 21.8m passengers (September: 2.6m air travellers, up 11.2%). With four million passengers, traffic at Hanover Airport (HAJ) in northern Germany slipped by 0.2%. However in September 2014, traffic at HAJ rose by 4.8% to 587,070 passengers year-on-year.
