Asia exclusive on Ballantine’s prestigious 40YO expression

By Caroline Sargent |

Pernod Ricard Asia Travel Retail announces that an exclusive Ballantine’s 40 Year Old has been released to selected locations in Asian travel retail, starting with Incheon Airport and extending to Japan International Airport (Narita AP Terminal 1, Haneda AP, Centair), Hong Kong International Airport and Singapore Changi Airport.

Described as ‘the pinnacle expression of their prestigious range’ and an homage to the founder of the no 3 Scotch whisky in TR (according to IWSR 2014), George Ballantine, only 32 of a total 100 bottles will go on sale.

To complement the prestige expression, Ballantine’s invited world-respected British silversmith Richard Fox to utilise his unique craftsmanship and develop the Ballantine’s 40YO bottle. The result features the Ballantine’s crest and signature etched into the glass, inlaid with delicate gold along with five sterling silver elements: the stopper, collar, seal, label and base cup.

Each element has been individually hallmarked by the London Assay office – a mark of silver quality for over 700 years – and then carefully hand-applied to the bottle. Each unit is engraved with a single number from 1 to 100 and presented in a beautiful rich, dark wooden cabinet.

Kyung Min, Marketing Manager at Pernod Ricard Asia Travel Retail, comments, “This is the most exclusive blended Scotch whisky from Ballantine’s and we are delighted to launch it in Asia Travel Retail. Ballantine’s 40 Year Old truly is a rare expression and will be of great interest to discerning travellers.”
