Non-travellers can now take advantage of a new click-and-collect facility at Singapore Changi Airport selling alcohol at duty and goods and services tax (GST)-absorbed prices.

IShopChangiWines.com from Changi Airport Group (CAG) and DFS Group claims to be the first online luxury ecommerce platform selling premium wines, champagnes and sake – the three most popular categories – inclusive of the levies.

Separately as reported, the Singaporean government lowered the GST relief ceiling on imported goods and cut the alcohol duty free concession for those entering the country from three litres to two litres earlier this year.

Customers will be able to select from more than 140 products from some of the globe’s ‘most sought-after brands’ plus DFS travel exclusives, reads a statement. Existing members of Changi Rewards and DFS’ Loyal T programme can earn and accumulate points. They can purchase up to 30 litres of wines, champagnes and sake a day.

Customers can avail themselves of exclusive products such as Penfolds Max’s The Promise Shiraz.

HOME DELIVERY OPTION

According to the website, shoppers can order online and pick up their purchases from the Terminal 3 Arrival Hall (Level 1) on production of photo ID and an order verification slip.

Those spending more than S$150/$109 can enjoy complimentary home delivery (applicable only to residences in Singapore) with a surcharge of S$30-S$60 payable for urgent or time-specific drop-offs.

“The launch of the new iShopChangiWines.com e-shopping site marks Changi Airport’s latest move in making shopping accessible to consumers even if they do not have a boarding pass to fly,” commented Teo Chew Hoon, Group Senior Vice President, Airside Concessions at CAG.

“Not only do they get to pick from the wide selection of premium products specially curated by DFS, they will also enjoy the privileges presented by Changi Rewards, the airport’s loyalty rewards programme.”

Prashant Mahboobani, DFS Group General Manager, Singapore added: “At DFS, we recognise that our consumers’ needs and shopping behaviours continue to evolve and we are always seeking new ways to satisfy them. The launch of iShopChangiWines.com is a significant milestone for DFS at Changi Airport as we bring our standards of quality and value, with added convenience to consumers.”

CONTESTS AND PRIZES

The website’s launch has been marked by a series of ground activations around Singapore under the campaign #BestKeptSecretSG.

Members of the public are being encouraged to take photos of a branded truck transporting empty wine bottles around the country and upload the images on social media using the above hashtag.

A contest running at www.bestkeptsecret.sg until 8 August encourages Singapore residents (aged 18 and over) to guess the number of empty bottles. The closest guesses will win travel vouchers worth more than S$2,500.

Meanwhile, DFS has compiled a range of exclusive rewards and experiences worth over S$35,000 from the likes of Amex, Base Entertainment Asia, Ikeda Spa Prestige, Koma Singapore, Majestic Ferry East, Marquee, One Faber Group, Ranoh Island and The Fullerton Hotel.

IShopChangiWineslogoRunning between 6-8 August, consumers spending more than S$180 in a single transaction can enter to win prizes, with Amex members benefitting from additional rewards on top of the rewards offered to the public.

These include four pairs of tickets to the Aladdin and Cats Musicals and respective meet-and-greets with the cast; dining experiences at Oscar’s; and four pairs of tickets to Ikeda Spa Prestige.

Dovetailing with the launch of the service, CAG and DFS have revealed a new brand logo: ‘Duty-absorbed, Now for Everyone’.
