Heinemann opens No. 3 at Singapore Cruise Centre

Heinemann Asia Pacific has opened its third (157sq m) Ocean Duty Free store in Singapore’s HarbourFront Ferry Terminal.

This follows the earlier opening of its first two outlets at the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal in March of last year.

This latest store is the largest to date, offering “a one-stop shopping destination” designed to reflect a relaxed shopping environment.

Singapore Cruise Centre CEO Christina Siaw cuts the ribbon jointly with Heinemann Asia Pacific Operations Director, Retail, Constantin Wiesmann.

The new Ocean Duty Free store is located in the Ferry Departure Hall just behind the immigration counters and is open from 0700 to 2200. Heinemann describes the design as “a rustic beach resort concept” with special features such as a central lighthouse merchandising area and cashier counter, “inspired by the outer deck of a ferry”.

The store itself is said to offer a wide assortment ranging from perfumes, cosmetics, sun care, confectionery, fashion accessories, toys, golf accessories, local souvenirs and travel essentials, with customers able to save as much as 50% off Singapore city retail prices. It also carries new locally sourced brands such as Titlelist, Funfit, Eu Yang Sang, Helen and Love SG.

FIVE MILLION PASSENGER-PLUS TARGET MARKET

Commenting, Singapore Cruise Centre CEO Christina Siaw said: “We are very pleased that Heinemann Asia Pacific has chosen us as their partner once again as they expand their retail footprint in Singapore. Their choice of our strategically-and-conveniently located HarbourFront terminal is a testament to their confidence in our ability to manage a first-class, vibrant gateway for the more than five million passengers who use our terminal annually.”

Max Heinemann, CEO at Heinemann Asia Pacific thanked the Singapore Cruise Centre for the opportunity to extend the retailer’s business: “The opening of the 3rd outlet of Ocean Duty Free marks the next milestone for us as we increase the presence of our duty free business at the ferry terminals.

The Singapore Cruise Centre undertook a multi-million dollar rejuvenation project to renovate the terminal and upgrade the HarbourFront Passenger Terminal’s facilities back in 2011.

“With a much shorter transit period, we adopted a convenient and innovative retail approach to capture the attention of passengers by providing a wide assortment at competitive prices to cater to their travel needs.”

Adding his comments, Constantin Wiesmann, Operations Director, Retail said: “Consumers are always looking for new shopping experience. With the addition of this 3rd outlet, we aim to provide the consumers [with] more product offerings in a refreshing and relaxing shopping ambience at the Ferry Terminal. With the developments in the region, we will continue to monitor customers’ needs in order to serve them better.”
