ARI officially announced it had won the five-year duty free and travel retail concession at Montenegro’s Podgorica (pictured) and Tivat Airports in October.

Aer Rianta International (ARI) has today (15 April) begun to welcome customers to the 122sq m Montenegro Duty Free shop at Podgorica Airport.

The opening marks the commencement of ARI’s duty free and travel retail concession with Montenegro Airports, as first revealed by TRBusiness in 2019.

A second shop measuring 98.5sq m at Tivat Airport is due to open on 10 June.

Shoppers to Montenegro Duty Free at Podgorica Airport can pickup perfume and cosmetics, liquor, confectionery and choose from a wide selection of designer sunglasses and jewellery.

‘SAFE, UNIQUE AND EXCITING NEW EXPERIENCE’

Premium spirits and luxury beauty brands such as Chanel, Dior, Giorgio Armani and Tom Ford will be on show, flanking an eclectic selection of wine, locally produced foods and destination-branded souvenirs, gifts and toys.

Montenegro Duty Free General Manager Deyan Fitzgerald said: “I am delighted to open the doors of Montenegro Duty Free.

“I would like to thank both the team here in Montenegro and our central colleagues at ARI. By blending our global and local expertise, we have created a safe, unique and exciting new experience for the shoppers at Montenegro Airports.

“It’s great to see it so well received by our customers here today. I also look forward to opening soon in Tivat.”

The Montenegro Duty Free team at Podgorica Airport celebrate the new store opening.

ARI Chief Executive Officer Ray Hernan added: “Today marks another key milestone for ARI with the launch of Montenegro Duty Free and the opening of our new store in Podgorica.

“We are fully committed to growing our business and delivering exceptional results for ourselves and our business partners. Montenegro presents another opportunity to do just that.

“It has been a pleasure working with the team at Airports of Montenegro for our return to the Balkans. I wish Deyan and the team every success and I look forward to visiting the stores in Montenegro.”
