Gebr. Heinemann & Distell lead support for elephant conservation at Frankfurt

World Elephant Day takes place on Monday 12 August.

Distell has joined forces with Gebr. Heinemann at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) to raise awareness of and funds for elephant conservation.

A ‘Stamp Your Pledge’ promotion is running throughout August in the build-up to World Elephant Day (12 August).

Travellers are greeted by a large, 3D elephant and invited to try either a Cream or Vanilla Spice Amarula on ice, complemented by Amarula Truffles courtesy of Goldkenn.

They are also encouraged to pledge support to the vital conservation cause by purchasing chocolates in a tin and bar format or a one-litre bottle of Amarula, which can be personalised with the name of the customer embossed on a sticker beneath a stylised fingerprint containing the Amarula elephant logo.


Customers have the chance to personalise bottles to spark conversation among friends and family about the importance of elephant conservation in Africa.


For every bottle sold, €0.50/$0.56 and will be donated to the Amarula Trust to aid elephant conservation in Africa.

The trust will receive €0.50/$0.56 for each chocolate tin sold and €0.25 for every bar.

Rüdiger Stelkens, Director Purchasing Liquor, Tobacco, Confectionery and Fine Food, Gebr. Heinemann said: “Partnering with Distell Travel Retail to create this magnificent, interactive promotional area to raise awareness for elephant conservation was a pleasure.

“This is a perfect campaign as it is very appealing to Amarula fans and also connects with shoppers that are eager to contribute to a good cause. In addition, it supports our goal to entice travellers with cross-category promotions for spirits and chocolates, thus building sales for both categories.”

Adding his thoughts, Luke Maga, Managing Director Global Travel Retail, Distell added: “Amarula has been committed to elephant conservation since 2002 and the travel retail channel has consistently gotten behind its charity efforts over the years.

“Last year over €50,000 Euros was raised in the channel in just one month. We look forward to continuing our CSR efforts this summer and thank Heinemann for granting us the space at Frankfurt Airport to execute our Stamp Your Pledge promotion.”
