Lagardère Travel Retail wins tender to run five new stores at Catania Airport

Lagardère Travel Retail has won a tender to operate five new stores at Catania Fontanarossa Airport in Sicilia.
The retailer will run two Aelia Duty Free stores, one Bottega dei Sapori shop, one #Theplace Catania outlet and one Relay store. All outlets will be a mix of Lagardère’s globally renowned brands and local concepts.
Expected to open in the first half of 2021, the retailer says the shops will give customers access to a wide-ranging offer of international and local products — Made in Italy.
Building on the success of this approach in Palermo, Lagardère Travel Retail has vowed to offer travellers the best of Sicilian culture and cuisine and to support local producers.
KEY CONTRACT WIN
The retailer commented: “We are very proud of this win which strengthens our leading position in the Italian travel retail industry in times of great uncertainty.
“Thanks to the Italian team for their amazing efforts to win this tender. We are looking forward to welcoming passengers in Catania.”
The French travel retailer already has a strong presence in Italy, running stores at Rome Fiumicino and Ciampino Airports Cagliari Airport and Venice Marco Polo International Airport among others.
Lagardère Travel Retail also runs a number of railway outlets across the country.
