Lagardère unites 500 top managers during online Global Digital Week event

By Andrew Pentol |

Lagardère Travel Retail is hosting an online employee event aimed at 500 top managers from over 25 countries this week (21-25 June).

The event has been designed to foster employee engagement and confidence for the future when early signs of recovery are on the horizon, but people still aren’t globally able to gather physically.

For the first time, Lagardère Travel Retail has fully digitalised its annual employee conference into the Global Digital Week and taken the opportunity to open the conference to a significantly larger population — the top 500 managers across the organisation.

The event’s overall theme, ‘Shaping the future together’ was chosen to align all participants behind the ambition to share confidence for the future and articulate how we can collectively create a stronger and more sustainable future for Lagardère Travel Retail in the aftermath of the pandemic.

A Paris studio was the setting for the opening two-hour live plenary session. The session was an opportunity for the global executive committee to reflect on more than 18 months of crisis.

GLOBAL AND LOCAL SUCCESS

It also offered a chance to explore global and local successes that are supporting the company’s current and future performance and explain how Lagardère Travel Retail as a global team is shaping the future through enhanced strategic and corporate social responsibility roadmaps.

Five hundred participants from over 25 countries have participated in Global Digital Week 2021.

Live sessions have also taken place touching on different themes regarding the company’s people, its business and the DF&TR industry.

Two sessions have focused on workplace wellbeing and sustainability. In addition, a 100% entertainment “surprise” show was due to take place at the end of the week.

Multiple networking sessions have been organised to gather groups of up to 10 like-minded colleagues from across geographies and business lines to get to know each other.

Commenting on the Global Digital Week, Jean-Baptiste Morin, Chief Talent & Organisation Officer at Lagardère Travel Retail said: “This is a cornerstone moment in the history of our organisation.

The Global Digital Week event is a chance to explore global and local successes that are supporting the company’s current and future performance.

“During this crisis, our teams have given the best of themselves to keep us afloat and as we are approaching the recovery phase, we need to inspire and engage them on that road.

“The Global Digital Week is a chance for us to share the reasons why we are confident in a brighter future for Lagardère Travel Retail and explain the role our teams globally can play in enabling our future performance.

“Most importantly, we see this event as an opportunity to thank people for their outstanding efforts and commitment and to create digital bonds between the teams.”

A majority of sessions have been live-streamed from a web platform created for the event, enabling the audience to interact with speakers via polls, word clouds and by submitting questions. The agenda was developed to accommodate all time zones, from the Americas up to the Pacific.
