The ‘Google Meets Travel Retail’ forum held in Hamburg last year marked the tech giant’s initial dialogue with the DF&TR industry in a formal setting.

Digital marketeers and decision makers from DF&TR will descend on Düsseldorf International Airport on 7 November for the next iteration of the Global Shopping Forum (GSF) – and there is still time to register.

Themed ‘The Power of Innovation: How to bridge the digital gaps in the travel retail industry’, the latest instalment of the dynamic and thought-provoking GSF series promises stakeholders more ‘deep-dive’ insights across a range of technology-driven subjects.

These are clustered around identifying travel retail’s missing potential for digitalisation and targeting travellers during the ‘micro moments’ of their travel journeys; negotiating communication difficulties within social media and optimising Chinese platforms such as Weibo and WeChat; and exploring the relevance of digital touchpoints on the decision-making process.

Discussion will also centre on how to maximise performance marketing campaigns to increase footfall and conversion at airport retail and F&B outlets with insights, case studies and best-practice solutions provided on Chinese shopping behaviours and millennials.

ABUNDANT NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES

This year’s GSF, a boutique event limited in numbers, is a co-operation between Düsseldorf Airport and Travel Blue. Global Blue, Global Smiling and Z-Zoom are sponsoring the event. Eli Fel, Founder and Honorary Chairman, Global Shopping Forum and Managing Director, Travel Blue Germany will co-host GSF alongside Peter Mohn, CEO, m1nd-set, the event’s Research and Content Partner. TRBusiness is the official media partner.

“Speakers from Google, Lufthansa, Ctrip , Düsseldorf Airport, Global Blue – to name a few – will enable a ‘deep dive’ into the ongoing digital transformation process in our industry.

“This event is the enabler for decision makers to exchange know-how, learn from success cases and to find new innovative solutions to bridge the gap between travellers and the travel retail industry.”
