Ever Rich Duty Free explores NFT market to sell kaoliang digital artwork

By Luke Barras-hill |

Ever Rich Duty Free has launched an experiment in the NFT marketplace.

Taiwan’s Ever Rich Duty Free has hailed its ‘breakthrough’ foray into the non-fungible token (NFT) market after releasing a one-of-a-kind digital artwork on trading platform OpenSea.

NFTs use technology to commoditise digital content such as videos and images that can be logged and sold using cryptocurrency blockchains.

Ever Rich highlighted the exclusive Year of the Tiger Chinese imperial jade seal kaoliang liquor item on OpenSea, which claims to be the world’s largest NFT marketplace.

Described as a ‘unique file’, the buyer was offered the rights to acquire the digital artwork and purchase the limited edition liquor plus an Ever Rich shopping voucher valued at TWD 80,000/US$2,869.

Bidding for the item began on 10 February and sold at a price of ETH (Ethereum) 1.1635/US$3,012 on 18 February.

The digital artwork was illustrated using the Chinese character for ‘liquor’ alongside a tiger visual.
