Global Travel Retail Community arrives; IIR hails ‘great laboratory for insight’

By Luke Barras-hill |

Chinesemobile_NielsenThe Institute of International Retail (IIR) has unveiled the Global Travel Retail (GTR) Community – a virtual portal offering training and development for DF&TR executives.

Hosted and managed by the IIR, Global Travel Retail Community invites travel retail professionals to build, share and exchange knowledge and resources while growing their personal and business skillsets.

Users can register free of charge to discover groups of interest, keep abreast of the latest market topics and access relevant content such as webinars, insights, interviews, polls and articles.

Each month, the GTR Community will study a theme that deep dives into relevant topics, as voted for by the industry.

WEALTH OF FUNCTIONS

Aside offering other functions such as a mental health training programme, the GTR Community also acts as a gateway for industry stakeholders to progress with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) certified training courses, or more informal training.

The shift towards global digital networking solutions means establishing a virtual community platform has never been more important, according to the IIR.

“Those interested in personal development and training can sign up,” Derek Hughes, Managing Director, IIR told TRBusiness. “GTR will be a great laboratory to share insight. It’s a community whereby people can discuss training requirements and personal development and it will be for the global community.

“What’s unique about our community platform is our ability to branch out globally with travel retail professionals and have real conversations about our industry’s development needs.

“Members of the community can share ideas and thoughts and themes, which are most relevant to them. A virtual community is very timely and offers the industry a great way to engage and support one another.”
