Secret-Speyside-completionTwo unusual single malt expressions from the (now defunct) Caperdonich distillery have completed the limited-run Secret Speyside collection from Chivas Brothers.

The cask strength Caperdonich 25 Year Old and 30 Year Old are now available for travellers to purchase exclusively in key airports.

As reported, the Secret Speyside collection draws liquid from four ‘elusive’ Scottish distilleries – Glen Keith, Longmorn, Caperdonich and Braes of Glenlivet – and rolled out on 1 July.

It listed at 25 airports across 15 markets in the three-month period since launching and has gained notable sales traction at London Heathrow Airport and Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, where travellers purchase bottles as gifts or for self-consumption.

The two new bottlings are the oldest from the Caperdonich distillery and are part of a six-strong lineup (three peated; three unpeated).

The 30 Year Old unpeated iteration (pictured left) is matured in American oak barrels and bottled at 51.1% ABV. Flavour notes span soft fruit, fresh pineapple and sweet honey with warm spices.

Laura Lung, Global Marketing Manager for Malts, Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail praised the ‘overwhelming’ response from travellers to the new collection.

“The goal when launching this curated selection of whiskies was to allow Scotch Single Malt enthusiasts the opportunity to not just sample some of the rarest liquid from the Speyside region, but to also learn about what makes this abundant area of Scotland so unique.

“Whether for personal consumption or as a special gift to family and friends, Secret Speyside offers customers a truly unique and memorable experience, and these two final additions from Caperdonich provide a fitting finale to this prestigious collection.”

The Caperdonich distillery produced its final single malt in 2002, before being deconstructed in 2011.
