SSP Canada teams up with celebrity chef Capra

SSP Canada and Italian-born chef, Massimo Capra, have opened two new Italian restaurants at Toronto Pearson International Airport.

Boccone Trattoria Veloce can be found in Terminal 1’s domestic departures area, while Boccone Pronto is located in Terminal 1’s US-Transborder departures area.

Massimo Capra was born in Italy, and moved to Canada in 1982. He is the co-owner of Toronto’s fabled Mistura Restaurant and the highly-regarded Sopra Upper Lounge. He is also known for his appearances on television shows CityLine and the Food Network programme Restaurant Makeover, which is seen in over sixteen countries.

The menus at the new restaurants will feature traditional dishes such as Tagliatelle Bolognese and the thin-crust pizza Val D’Aosta topped with fonduta, black truffle cream, mushrooms, parmesan and arugula.

‘A PIONEER OF ITALIAN COOKING IN CANADA’

“Regulars at Massimo Capra’s restaurants in Toronto will be pleased to see many of the dishes they know and love among the selection, including arancini di riso and polpette di carne as well as hand-made ravioli of the day,” says SSP Canada.

Capra adds: “Now travellers at Toronto can enjoy the same great food that they would in the world’s best airports such as JFK New York or London’s Heathrow.  Working with the team at SSP, we have created a restaurant that will serve the same food, prepared to the same high standards as we do in town, and I’m very proud of this achievement.”

Pat Murray, Executive VP of SSP Canada, said. “We’re delighted to be working with Chef Massimo, who is undoubtedly one of the pioneers of fine Italian cooking in Canada. His creativity and his passion for this project have been a true inspiration.”

Pamela Griffith-Jones, Vice President of Guest and Terminal Services for the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, added:  “We are so excited to have Chef Massimo bring his expertise and love of food to Toronto Pearson.

“We are committed to significantly raising the bar in terms of the dining options at Toronto Pearson and in ensuring we are showcasing the best that Toronto and the region have to offer. Chef Massimo’s two restaurants are proof positive of that commitment.”
