Gebr. Heinemann’s latest win means that TRD will be responsible for all duty free trading at Domodedovo Airport.

Gebr. Heinemann has announced that Travel Retail Domodedovo (TRD) has won the tender to become the exclusive duty free operator at Moscow Domodedovo Airport’s new international terminal.

TRD, a joint venture between Gebr. Heinemann and local partner Greenway, has been awarded the ‘exclusive’ seven-year duty free concession, confirms the retailer.

The new duty free space, which is scheduled to open in June 2018, will comprise approximately 4,000sq m in the form of a walk-through shop. It will be located directly behind the security checkpoint and two large areas dedicated for various fashion and accessories boutiques.

According to Gebr. Heinemann, TRD is already the main retailer at the Domodedovo Airport, operating two duty free stores and three duty paid shops. This latest win means that TRD will be responsible for all duty free trading at Moscow’s second largest airport.

ENTREPRENEURIAL COMMITMENT

Commenting on the win, Oleg Zhytomyrsky, Director Sales Russia/CIS, Gebr. Heinemann, stated: “We are delighted at winning this tender, which is a great confirmation of our entrepreneurial commitment in Russia.

“Over the years, TRD has established itself as a reliable and competent duty free operator. We will continue to expand this competence in the coming years and present a comprehensive and varied range of duty free products to passengers at Domodedovo Airport.”

The number of local employees needed once the new retail space opens will significantly increase too, confirms the retailer. TRD currently employs approximately 300 staff across five Russian airports (Moscow Domodedovo, Moscow Ostafyevo, Ekaterinburg Koltsovo, Samara Kurumoch and Moscow Zhukovsky).
