TRMarketplace announces TR Talent Pool Initiative
By Charlotte Turner |
TRBusiness and Bluedog Productions are proud to announce the creation of the TR Talent Pool Initiative, helping the travel retail industry grow during unprecedented levels of upheaval for its workforce.
As the world continues to adjust to a ‘new normal’ courtesy of the Covid-19 pandemic, the duty free and travel retail industry has already lost many talented and experienced employees through mass redundancies across every sector.
While others take advantage of various furlough schemes, some will be looking outside of the travel and tourism industry for new job opportunities.
TRBusiness and Bluedog Productions believe it will be a travesty to lose such a large volume of skilled professionals – some of whom can boast more than 20 years’ experience in DF&TR – to other industries.
FREE-OF-CHARGE ACCESS
We are therefore pledging our support to those who have lost their jobs in duty free & travel retail – as a result of Covid-19 – by offering free of charge entry to our inaugural TRMarketplace event in September and unlimited access to the platform for a month before to allow them to book meetings with all participants and discuss potential career opportunities.

Helping the industry get back on its feet means retaining talented, skilled and experienced travel retail professionals.
Once inside the platform, these individuals seeking employment will be easy to identify from our visitors list by the world’s leading operators, airports, airlines, brands and distributors who have already pre-registered for the event.
In addition, those looking for career opportunities can reach out to any of the visitors or exhibitors for video meetings within the platform, share their resumes and discuss job opportunities.
On top of this, they will be able to gain unlimited access to our comprehensive Knowledge & Insights programme which includes daily webinars covering every product category, sector and region, throughout the event.
RETAINING EXPERIENCED AND SKILLED DF&TR EXECUTIVES
“This industry is at risk of losing some incredible talent – including those in senior level positions who have honed their skills over decades in this industry,” said Nigel Hardy and Janice Hook, TRBusiness Owners and Joint Managing Directors.
“Individuals with such vast knowledge and experience cannot easily be replaced and this industry will be all the poorer without them. At the same time, young, energetic and enormously passionate employees, who may have only been in their positions for a matter of months, have also been forced out of the industry, which desperately needs their skills and ingenuity if it is to remain innovative, relevant and exciting for many decades to come.”
Nick King, Bluedog Productions CEO, echoes these sentiments: “Working with such an array of people in the industry, we have seen first-hand the impact that the pandemic has had on businesses and in turn their dedicated and passionate staff.
“We want to do whatever we can to help the people who need it most. For those currently without employment who are new to the industry or those considered to be ‘part of the furniture’, the travel retail sector remains an exciting and forward-thinking industry that people strive to be a part of. If we can give people the opportunity to remain a part of it, that in itself will mean our efforts have been rewarded.”
