Following the release of Light Blue and Light Blue Pour Homme the new limited edition scent is inspired by the Italian ‘scorza di limone’ – lemon zest and ‘celebrates the joyfulness of a sunny Summer’s day in Capri’.

In this summery variation on the signature fruity floral Light Blue scent, perfumer Olivier Cresp has added Calabrian lemon, extracted from hand-harvested ‘limoni primofiore’ lemons, grown from the tree’s first bloom and considered the very best quality due to their more intense taste.

“Both the zest and pulp are sensitive to the heat and need to be squeezed according to an ancestral cold pressing technique called sfumatrice, to produce a true-to-nature essence with gourmand facets,” insists the brand.

“Brightened by the tangy citrus, Light Blue’s signature Sicilian cedar and Granny Smith apple top notes become even fruitier and juicier. The glowing white rose and jasmine petal heart is more radiant than ever. Its trail of ambery notes and warm musks becomes more lustrous. A new facet of Mediterranean femininity is unveiled with a twist of Italian Zest.”

For the female fragrance’s counterpart (pour homme) perfumer Alberto Morillas has added fresh bergamot, a citrus essence with ‘facets of pepper, musk and oak’.

Shaped like a small yellow orange, Citrus bergamia is exclusively grown in Calabria. The essential oil is obtained by peeling the fruit, then cold-pressing the peel to protect its complex, delicate aromas.

“In Italian Zest, a pure explosion of fresh bergamot boosts Light Blue Pour Homme’s signature contrast of coolness and sensuality,” adds D&G. “Brightening the top notes chilled cocktail of grapefruit and mandarin, the pepper and juniper facets add a spicy tang to the rosemary and rosewood of the heart notes.”

Light Blue Italian Zest is available in 50ml and 100ml in Europe travel retail, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) from April 2018; 50ml and 100ml in the Americas, and 100ml in Asia Pacific from this month onwards.

D&G launched Light Blue Italian Zest Pour Home – 75ml and 125ml – in travel retail EMEA last month; 75ml and 125ml in the Americas, and 125ml in Asia Pacific from May 2018.
