Industry supports fundraising campaign to help victims of Beirut disaster
By Luke Barras-hill |
A fundraiser established by Beirut Duty Free to support humanitarian aid efforts in the aftermath of the Beirut explosion continues to gain important support from across DF&TR.
Aer Rianta International, MEADFA and countless other organisations and individuals have voiced support for the charitable drive, as the industry joins in solidarity to assist a monumental cause.
As reported, a blast in the port area of Lebanon’s capital on 4 August claimed the lives of at least 200 people, injured thousands and left scores homeless.
Funds from the GoFundMe appeal, organised by Beirut Duty Free’s Chief Operations Officer Adrian Bradshaw, will go to organisations including the Lebanese Red Cross and Dafia Campaign.
“With over 300,000 people now homeless, and many with damaged and destroyed properties, this comes at a very tough time for the Lebanese people, whom are already facing a major economic crisis, with a devaluation of their currency of 80%,” according to the GoFundMe page.
