Following the news that Lauder’s has climbed to fifth in the standard blended Scotch whisky category in European Travel Retail, MacDuff distillers can now reveal that the Glaswegian brand is now ranked third in Nordic Travel Retail.

 

In addition, MacDuff insists that sister brand Islay Mist has grown ‘faster than any other brand in the Top 15’, reaching the number 8 spot.

 

Both brands received gold medals from renowned international competitions this year; Lauder’s 25 Year Old, in the bespoke black Wade decanter, took gold at International Spirits Challenge, just as Islay Mist did.

 

GOLD-MEDAL VARIANTS

In the San Francisco World Spirits Competition Islay Mist entered only two whiskies; the Islay Mist Deluxe and Islay Mist 8 Years Old Amontillado Napoleon Cask Finish.

 

“Incredibly, both brought home a gold medal, with the latter securing a double gold, only awarded on the rare occasion where every individual judge on the panel agrees and awards a gold medal,” says MacDuff.

 

This autumn sees the launch of Lauder’s four-sided pinch bottle as a miniature.

 

Managing Director David Sloan commented: “The pinch shaped bottle is the same that has been used for over a century. It is only fitting that for the first time in history this award-winning whisky can now also be found in the same easily recognisable bottle in a 5 cl size.”

 

NOW IN MINIATURE

A number of different Lauder’s variants are now available in the 5 cl miniature bottles giving consumers the opportunity to sample before investing in a larger bottle, says David Sloan who adds: “We’re are also launching a luxury tasting pack with three small bottles. We see it as an opportunity to recruit new consumers and it is the ideal gift giving opportunity in a time where consumers are focusing on unique gifts.
