New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport Terminal 4 has announced a partnership with CrowdVision to streamline operational processes and passenger flows.

Set to execute by the end of the year, new technology fusing CrowdVision’s passenger measurement and analytics expertise with Copenhagen’s Better Airport cloud-based modelling software will go live at three locations.

These include at curbside, to manage passenger and vehicle arrivals congestion; check-in, to regulate airline desk personnel and other partners for smoother customer service; and security, to monitor and expedite queuing times, screening and ticket checks.

The hope is the airport’s retailers can benefit from the platform, which uses artificial intelligence-enabled computer vision technology to measure passenger activity in real-time amassed by CrowVision to allocate resources and provide forecasts to optimise operations through Better Airport.

CrowdVision is able to determine whether those forecasts are reflected in passenger activity and whether there are discrepancies between resource planning and operational effectiveness.

ADDRESSING RISING PAX

The solution will help JFK T4 cope with rising passenger numbers of more than 21m annually.

Roel Huinink, President and CEO of T4 operator JFKIAT commented: “We are proud to partner with CrowdVision to enhance the passenger experience and remain at the forefront of the industry by employing the latest technology and innovation.

“With passenger counts continuing to soar, the capabilities provided by the CrowdVision solution will allow us to accommodate the rising volume in the most efficient and proactive way possible.”

CrowdVision’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer Fiona Strens added: “Terminal 4 is a very exciting new customer for CrowdVision. The vision and quality of its leadership team are exceptional and we look forward to collaborating to optimise the terminal for passenger experience, operational efficiency and shareholder value. We’re also committed to working with excellent partners, including Copenhagen Optimization with their Better Airport products, to ensure that CrowdVision data and insights translate into better forecasts, plans and practical outcomes.”

CrowdVision is currently used in airports throughout the world to measure efficiencies in passenger operations in real-time.
