Changi voted best airport at 2015 Skytrax awards

Singapore Changi Airport was voted the World’s Best Airport for the third year in succession by airport passengers at the recently held 2015 World Airport Awards at Passenger Terminal EXPO in Paris.

Changi Airport management said proudly today that this is the sixth time that the airport has been awarded with this accolade.

“To win this prestigious award three years in succession is a remarkable achievement for Changi Airport Singapore, and underlines its popularity amongst air travellers as the world’s Best Airport,” said Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax.

“Changi Airport lives up to its reputation as the world’s Best Airport and rather than dwell on earlier success, the airport continues to innovate and concentrate on making the customer experience in the airport environment the most enjoyable.

“It is therefore no surprise to see it named again by global travellers as the world’s favourite airport. Changi Airport offers today’s airport customers real delights and surprises that are in many instances quite unique.”

DOUBLE ACCOLADE
In addition to this award, Changi Airport was also voted Best Airport for Leisure Amenities. These   include the music bar lounges, cinemas, music deck, swimming pool, napping and rest areas and the in-terminal Transit Hotel.

Commenting on the award, Lee Seow Hiang, CEO at the Changi Airport Group said: “It is a great honour to be named World’s Best Airport by Skytrax for the third year running. This recognition is particularly pleasing for us as it comes at a time of transformation at Changi Airport.

“We are undertaking a number of significant development projects including Terminal 4 and Jewel Changi Airport, with some works taking place amid ongoing airport operations. We are most grateful to all our passengers and partners who have, nonetheless, continued to give us their strongest support. Thank you for your affirmation and understanding.

“We are excited about Changi Airport’s future as we expand to serve an increasing number of passengers. However, we will not forget to continue to delight our passengers through our focus on service excellence and spirit of innovation. The ranking for the world’s Best Airports in 2015 was (in order) as follows: Singapore Changi Airport; Incheon International Airport; Munich Airport; Hong Kong International Airport; Tokyo International Airport (Haneda); Zurich Airport; Central Japan International Airport; London Heathrow Airport; Amsterdam Schiphol Airport; Beijing Capital International Airport.

Methodology: The World Airport Awards are based on 13.02m customer nominations across 112 nationalities of air travellers and included 550 airports worldwide. The survey evaluates customer satisfaction across 39 key performance indicators for airport service and product – from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security and immigration, through to departure at the gate.
