Christina Oliver chosen as new APTRA Exec Director

Christina Oliver boasts more than 18 years’ experience in the international brand marketing and retails service industries.

The Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association (APTRA) has announced Christina Oliver as its new Executive Director, effective 17 December.

Oliver will report to the President of APTRA and its Board. She replaces Michael Barrett, who stepped down from the post in the Summer.

Based in Singapore, she will be charged with carrying out the strategic plan agreed by the APTRA Board.

Assisted by Administrative Officer Sharolyn Paul, Oliver will preside over the association’s day-to-day functions, which include advocacy, communications, research and training.

Her resume includes more than 18 years’ experience in international brand marketing and retail service implementation, covering posts with Viacom Media, grocery chain Asda (Wal-Mart), and Southeast Asia’s largest electronics and home furnishings retailer Courts Asia.

RETAIL BACKGROUND

She has also held roles as Regional Head of Marketing at Al-Futtaim Electronics, where she was responsible for managing a portfolio of products and successfully launching the company’s own label brand, and as Regional Head of Marketing for Robinsons Department Stores in the UAE.

Oliver holds a BA Honours Degree in Economics from the University of Newcastle and is fluent in Malaysian (Bahasa).
