Ever Rich opens large new Taipei flagship store

Taiwan’s largest duty free operator Ever Rich D.F.S. Corp is trialling its new 15,000sq m flagship downtown store in the Neihu district in eastern Taipei.

The trial has been running since November 5 in a shopping centre some 10 minutes drive from the Taipei 101 Building, the world’s second tallest skyscraper and a major tourist attraction and the new store has been designed to serve the growing number of tour groups visiting Taiwan from mainland China.

Customers entering the pre-order duty free store register at reception and then take an escalator from the atrium entrance foyer up to the fourth floor enjoying panoramic views of duty free collections on lower floors as they ascend.

“We designed this store with a long escalator to take customers from the first to fourth floor,” said an Ever Rich source. “First they see perfumes and cosmetics, liquor and tobacco, and some shops. Then they take an escalator down to the third floor and follow a walkway round the whole floor. It’s the same walkway layout on the second floor. All the brand boutiques are on the third and second floors.”

The fourth floor entrance level features a large perfume and cosmetics area with liquor and tobacco presented in a boutique style layout, with back wall displays. Several other outlets are located on the fourth floor including Folli Follie and Swarovski.

CUSTOMER NUMBERS ARE GOOD
Luxury watch brand boutiques are positioned around the third floor escalator entrance area with individual boutiques comprising Omega, Piaget, IWC, Rolex, Corun, Zenith, Chopard, Tudor and Audemars Piguet. Other watch brands on sale in mixed brand outlets include Rado, Tissot and Oris.
“Most higher-end brands have their own boutiques,” the source said.

“The first floor has a more open space walk around layout. Half of the first floor has Taiwanese souvenirs including food and confectionery. The other side displays electronic goods and sportswear brands like Adidas, Nike and Roots of Canada.”

Luxury fashion brands with boutiques on the third and second floor include Gucci, Burberry, Emporio Armani, Bottega Veneta, Ermenegildo Zegna, Prada, Salvatore Ferragamo, TODS, Loewe, Valentino, Bally, Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss, Alfred Dunhill, Mont Blanc, Longchamp and Tumi.

MODERN REPLACEMENT STORE

Ever Rich operates two downtown duty free shops in Taipei, both in the capital’s eastern district near the Taipei 101 Building. This new flagship store has replaced the previous temporary downtown store that was opened in Ever Rich’s nearby headquarters building in October 2010.

This was aimed at handling the growing number of Mainland Chinese group tour visitors while the new flagship store was being built.

“Our new store is going well as expected. Most customers are from mainland China,” the source said. “We already closed our temporary shop on November 4 and opened our new shop on November 5.

“Every year Mainland Chinese customers are increasing. Total visitors to Taiwan are increasing each year.”

Ever Rich’s original downtown store is located in Minsheng East Road and serves mostly Japanese tourists.
