Hong Kong Airlines (HKA) says its home delivery shopping service in partnership with DFASS Group continues to go from strength to strength.

DFASS has been running the airline’s on board duty free concession since January 2014, having secured the contract the previous August.

Hong Kong Airlines Ancillary Revenue Head Pacino Qin told TRBusiness: “We have a special catalogue for home delivery, which has been getting bigger and bigger. Payments can be made inflight and products can be delivered anywhere within Hong Kong and China.

“More and more brands are joining [our home-delivery assortment] and the concept is an emerging inflight sales trend.”

BRANCHING OUT…

Chua Keng Ann, Director Project, Compliance & Inflight Operations, DFASS said:“Inflight is a challenging market, but not necessarily difficult. We are looking at branching out beyond traditional inflight sales, which is something we want to do in partnership with Hong Kong Airlines.”

Embracing digital opportunities is  thus the way forward. “The inflight business is slowly moving towards the digital side. This is one of the areas we want to focus on in the coming years,” said Keng Ann. “Hong Kong Airlines and DFASS are happy to embark on a new digital strategy which is something we will look forward to.”

Meanwhile, Keng Ann reports a +20% sales increase across Hong Kong Airlines’ duty free programme in 2017 year-on-year, adding: “This was down to operational enhancement and a more favourable exchange rate for the mainland Chinese, who make up most of our customers. Beauty products from brands such as La Prairie and La Mer are our top-sellers along with travel essentials.

“We have a lot of new ideas particularly on the digital front. These are still in the planning stage. We are very optimistic about this year and expect to eclipse 2017.”
