King Power Int confirmed as sole bidder for Don Mueang duty free contract
By Andrew Pentol |
TRBusiness can confirm that King Power International Group is the sole bidder for the Don Mueang duty free contract and that the official decision will be announced on Monday (16 December).
It is understood that King Power International will submit its technical proposal tomorrow (13 December) in the hope of securing a 10-year contract, which will run from 1 October 2022 to 31 March 2033.
King Power is the long-standing incumbent and has been operating at the airport since 1989. Its agreement was last renewed in 2012 and the current contract expires in September 2022.
Local media reports suggested the consortium comprising Lotte Duty Free and Bangkok Airways might be among the potential bidders having unsuccessfully bid for the Suvarnabhumi Airport concession. But the retailer informed TRBusiness it did not take part.
Should King Power be successful, it will add to its list of tender triumphs in 2019 which include the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi duty free concession and regional duty free contract. The latter encompasses Phuket, Chiang Mai and Hat Yai International Airports.
