Aziz_Malaysia18Operator Malaysia Airports Holding Berhad has revealed that sales of perfumes & cosmetics at Kuala Lumpur International (KLIA) rose by 45% in the first half of this year.

“I’m pleased to note that overall sales per passenger of KLIA recorded double-digit growth of 13% in 2017,” stated Malaysia Airports Senior General Manager for Commercial Services Nazli Aziz (pictured right).

“In that respect, Malaysia Airports are committed to our retail partners and we will continue to deliver exciting commercial value propositions to further entice passenger spending.”

DIOR’S SE ASIA BACKSTAGE PASS

The comments came as the airport revealed the ‘first ever’ Dior backstage pop-up at a southeast Asia airport.

In a partnership between the operator, brand and Colours & Fragrances (C&F), the multi-sensory Dior fixture is devoted solely to makeup, with the pop-up ensconced within a luxurious black lacquer décor that illustrates the spirit of the new line.

Travellers can purchase the professional performance makeup at the store, located in the International Departure area.

A launch event aided by Dior makeup artists offered expert beauty application tips to travellers, enabling them to create catwalk eyes, couture lips, runway complexions and the ‘Dior now look’.

A Dior colour artist and team of beauty consultants are on hand daily to offer makeup services and provide style advice to customers, who can also expect to receive gifts with purchase.

According to Gregoire Walter, Area Manager for Southeast Asia, Christian Dior, the pop-up marks a ‘significant milestone’ for the firm.

“KLIA being a preferred travel and transit hub in the world makes it the ideal place to have this beautiful Dior Backstage pop-up to offer a world-class experience with tailor-made services in this region,” said Walter.

“This project would not have been possible without the active collaboration and trust-based relationship of
each party.”

Aziz adds that the introduction of prestige brands is likely to boost overall retail revenue per passenger in an evolving commercial environment.

He said: “We are excited that KLIA is the first airport in southeast Asia to open its doors to the Dior Backstage pop-up. It is very much in line with our mission of enhancing the total airport experience by continuously introducing unique products and services for travellers.”
