The Lagardère Travel Retail team in Singapore has donated more than €190,000 ($206,364) worth of chocolate and gourmet foods to local charities, which are continuing to fight against Covid-19.

Stock from its stores which are not currently trading at Singapore Changi International Airport as a result of the crisis, has been delivered to the Red Cross Home for Disabled and Free Food for All charities.

The retailer said: “We hope this brings a much-needed smile to those fighting the pandemic in Singapore and to those they support every day.”

As reported, Changi Airport Group is to close Terminal 2 from 1 May 2020, following the steep decline in passenger traffic due to the pandemic. According to statistics published today (20 April), passenger movements dropped 70.7% to 1.65 million in March 2020 compared to the same month last year.

Lagardère, which has demonstrated strong corporate social responsibility commitment under its Planet, Ethics, People and Social strategy added: “We’re very proud to see so many of our colleagues across the world demonstrating creativity and generosity to progress this strategy and deliver its ambitious objectives during the unprecedented crisis.”

News of the donation follows the reopening of the retailer’s 88 stores at Wuhan Tianhe International Airport last week, which was exclusively reported by TRBusiness.
