Lotte Duty Free gears up for Lunar New Year with promotions and prizes
By Luke Barras-hill |
Lotte Duty Free is marking the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday with a series of online and offline promotions.
Amid a strengthening dollar versus other currencies, Lotte Duty Free is hosting lucky bag savings and exchange rate compensation promotions at its downtown and online stores, plus cash giveaways.
The impetus comes as Lotte Duty CEO Ju Nam Kim seeks to secure a wave of new, loyal customers.
Running until 12 February, the exchange rate compensation event rewards customers with up to an additional KRW150,000/US$113 to spend via LDF Pay should the US dollar – Korean Won exchange rate exceed KRW1,320.
Combined with LDF Pay giveaways and card firm partnerships, the value of benefits is worth up to KRW1.5 billion.
Customers who buy duty free goods worth $300 downtown or $500 online are eligible to participate in a Lunar New Year holiday event from 1 February to 3 March.
Lucky bag event
In an attempt to reduce the duty free shopping burden for domestic customers, the travel retailer will select 10 online and offline customers to receive refunds on their purchases.
Five offline customers can receive up to KRW2 million on LDF Pay while five online shoppers can receive their payment amounts back via LDF Pay.
A lucky bag event from 1 – 18 February will offer up to $30 in additional points.
Lotte Duty Free has also introduced an event offering meal vouchers for office workers that enjoy shopping trips during their lunch break.
Officer workers spending $250 or more at the main Lotte Duty Free downtown Myeongdong branch between 12 noon and 2pm on week days will receive a Banh Mi Set exchange voucher.
“We have prepared various promotions for Korean customers who are travelling abroad for the Lunar New Year holiday,” said a Lotte Duty Free spokesperson. “Lotte Duty Free will continue to strive to provide customised benefits that can meet the needs of individual customers.”
